We have built a new brewery with roots deeply embedded in Forssa

The strong influence of the Forssa Company

At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Forssa’s Uusikylä district was growing and developing rapidly. The Forssa Company was thriving and continuously expanding its operations. Within a few decades, the area between the weaving mill and the spinning mill had transformed into a center of services. The history of commercially brewed beer in Forssa begins with the Viksberg Brewery. Built by industrialist Wahren, the brewery was located on the banks of the Loimijoki River, behind the factory buildings of the weaving mill. Construction of the brewery was completed in 1857, and it began operations the following year under the leadership of German master brewer Ph. Fischer.

Bakery and brewery

The operations of Oy Forssa Pilsner Fabrik Ab will be integrated into those of Antin Konditoria, which has over a hundred years of history. The facilities are located within the same courtyard. Baking and brewing beer are similar processes, where the amounts of liquid and raw materials, as well as the production times, differ. The approach to future products and their development will reflect the same uncompromising attitude as that of the craftsmen of Viksberg Brewery and Käsityöläiskatu in times past.

Through challenges to completion

The new brewery has faced its share of growing pains, as events around the world impacted the construction phase. There was the COVID-19 pandemic, material supply issues, and the war in Ukraine, which forced us to change, among other things, our equipment supplier. However, the end result is an excellent whole that enables us to produce products in line with our business concept. Product development has been ongoing throughout the construction phase. During development, we have considered how different production methods and raw materials affect the flavor of future products. Ciders will also be included in our brewery’s selection. We aim to launch the brewery’s operations by summer and open our doors to customers.

Oy Forssa Pilsner Fabrik Ab will honor the entrepreneurs of Forssa’s golden age through its operations and share their stories with modern generations in the form of signature beers. Beer and stories belong together, as the lyrics say:

Brewing your own beer

Our brewery will offer enthusiasts who dream of producing their own commercial beer a safe opportunity that meets regulatory requirements. The producer is responsible for the sale of the beer in accordance with licensing regulations. We also produce small batches, for example, for corporate events and celebrations.

Brewery tour and introduction to beer production

The tour introduces the raw materials of beer, the production process, and the equipment used in brewing. Beer tastings will also be included in our offerings.
